The Stupidest Things Non-F1 People Say! Mini Post #1
A lot of people I know state that F1 and ALL Motorsports are boring and pathetic. "What's the point of driving in circles at high speeds?" they ask. These are the people that just don't understand the beauty of Motorsports. Drivers don't just drive in circles all day. For starters they have to pinpoint the braking point on each turn and if they make a mistake, they can crash! Also, there are more than 20 tracks in formula one each with a set of very hard corners. For example, Eau Rouge at the track Spa-Francorchamps or the Suzuka S corners. To counter this very silly statement, (motorsport is just drivers driving in circles) I often say, "If you look at it that way, tennis is just a ball going back and forth!" Each sport is exciting and unique in it's own way. In tennis, two players try their hardest to hit a ball strategically to their opponent, fans sit on the edge of their seats watching to see which player will make the first mistake and lose the point. In F1, drivers jump in very, very fast machines and race at over 200 MPH around a track. Fans sit at the edge of their seat, watching to see stunning overtakes and drivers experiencing a LOT of Gs -Forces. And to make it even more exciting, the winner sprays champagne on the fans! Exciting!
Another wrong statement that a lot of people say is that F1 drivers are not actual athletes, which is completely wrong. Formula One drivers experience a lot of G-Forces in a race and for their bodies to be able to sustain them they have to exercise a lot! They probably exercise more than your average athlete. F1 drivers even lose from 5 pounds to 15 pounds in one race! What’s most impressive though is how these cars not only physically and mentally take a toll on their drivers, but the environment around them. When looking at all the facts surrounding a Formula 1 car, they prove how skilled mankind’s handiwork is when it's applied to racing machines.

Another thing people say is, "Cars do ALL the work!" F1 cars are made up by more than 80,000 pieces of unique components and without one of them, the whole car breaks down! Formula One cars are incredible machines but to think that drivers don't do anything other than turn the wheel is just ridiculous. People who say that if they get in a Formula One car they can easily win are just completely wrong. These people don't realize that F1 drivers don't just turn the steering wheel, they control the ERS, DRS, and the engine power! These people who think that they are experts would probably struggle to even get the car moving, let alone drive the whole race. These are just some of the very annoying things people who don't like Formula One say. But don't let these people get to your head, Formula One is and always will be a very unique sport.
